TANGENT SUNSET

COMMON CREEPS by Alex Cosper

What did you think of Michael Moore's film Fahrenheit 911? (6/25/04)

respondent quote
RECEPTIONIST: Um...um...it scared me and it made me cry. Help!
UNKNOWN SKEPTIC: It was the most interesting montage of news clips I've ever seen. The right will try to discredit it, but it's actual Bush footage showing him at his worst: his contradictory statements and his frequent tendency to be a bumbling idiot on camera. Hopefully this film will confirm for a lot of people that Bush's financial ties with Saudi Arabia are the real reason for the war and that American media have let us down in a big way by not reporting the truth.
MR. BIG BIZ: I'd stay away from it. It's ridiculous to suggest that Bush is more evil than bin Laden - even if the Bush family are business partners with the bin Laden family. Business is business. This is all overblown. I doubt this film will have any effect on the election.
JENNIFER: I knew a lot of the information already, but I didn't know that Saudi Arabia actually owns seven percent of the U.S. economy and that they pay the Bush family millions via the Carlyle Group. I knew that Iraq has the second largest oil reserves on Earth and that's why we are really over there - to take control of their oil. I'm beginning to connect the dots more and more.
SKULL MADISON: The movie is one-sided and ignores the fact that we are in Iraq to liberate the people and to transform it into a Democracy. Even if we haven't found weapons of mass destruction there yet it doesn't mean we won't. I'll trust Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz before I take the word of some hack film-maker. Besides, we're benefitting greatly by occupying Iraq and taking control of their oil. Where's the movie scene about that. Heh?
FATHER SULLIVAN: Oh my God, all this time I've been for Bush, not realizing he is really the Anti-Christ. Oh Lord, please forgive me, but I must now vote for someone else. Lord, please I beg of you, please put Pat Buchanan on the ballot.
COLLEGE STUDENT: Finally, some journalistic truth about the Bush Administration. It's about time the mainstream found about the pipeline in Afghanistan. They just used 9/11 as an excuse to bomb that country just so they could install the puppet President Hamed Karzai from the oil industry, who signed the deal to put in the pipeline. Also this movie documents that Bush failed in all his businesses but he was always bailed out by Saudi money. None of this is made up, despite what the fascists will say.
JOE DOAKES: I watched the movie and I actually have to say that it changed my vote. I was set to vote for Bush but now I'll be working hard on the Kerry campaign.
BOUNCER MIKE: I didn't realize how unwanted America is in Iraq. I actually broke down and started to cry. But I'll still vote for Bush even though he lied to us. It made me realize that all Presidents lie. Clinton lied about Monica, so I guess it's okay for Bush to tell a few lies. Who am I to second guess his decisions? After all, he is our President and it is his job to know what's best for us.
GORE SUPPORTER: I was touched by the Gore scenes - how Gore really won the election and how the media and the Supreme Court just threw it all in the wrong direction. I still don't understand why Gore didn't put up more of a fight. It was as if he was helping Bush. Before I saw the movie I was completely anti-Bush. But now I have to consider the possibility that Bush and Gore are on the same team. If so, I may have to vote for Bush.
GURU DION: Look, the movie was brilliant. It was the best movie I've seen in a long long time. But the public isn't smart enough to act on it. Bush will probably rig the election again and this war will go on and on until the Carlyle Group and Haliburton have made so much money off the war that they will literally rule the world.
SARA MOTH: I can't believe I'm saying this - but I think for the first time I will not be voting Republican. I didn't realize that we have been lied to so badly by not just the Administration - but by the media. This was the first time I was able to see all the facts laid out and I'm very ashamed at myself for ever falling for Bush's evil moronic tricks.
CONDI ROSE: Don't see this movie. It's really bad. Go see Kill Bill or one of those other violent non-thinking movies.

THESE TALK RADIO HOSTS ARE ALL SAYING THE SAME THING:

All of them say Michael Moore is a nut and that it's not fair to show clips of Bush that imply he's a dyslexic psychopath.
