Do you think Bush thinks he can win the war on terror? (8/31/04)

respondent quote
MR. BIG BIZ: Sure, the President thinks he can win this war. He corrected himself - uh - uh -I should say he revealed his evolved perspective that there is a way to win.
JENNIFER: No, I don't think Mr. Bush thinks he can win the war on terror because he admitted it yesterday, now the PR people have got him saying the opposite today. Am I supposed to pretend this isn't happening?
SKULL MADISON: Bush said what he said and then he clarified it. What's the problem? Is someone going to let a little soundbite dominate this campaign? Of course, we're in it to win. Even if we weren't, you can't complain about the money.
FATHER SULLIVAN: We must not get too wrapped up in politics, for it is the devil's game. We must be more concerned about Judgment Day and not worry which leader takes media credit for the coming awakening.
COLLEGE STUDENT: Bush has really framed himself this time. There is no way he can use the flip flop argument on Kerry anymore, now that Bush has flip flopped in a 24 hour period. First he said we didn't know if we can win the war on terror, now he's saying he thinks we'll win. Is he sincere or is it just his split personality again?
BRUTUS JONES: Bush made a little flub up like he always does. So what? Who cares? It ain't about how smart you are anyway, it's about how you act, and Bush acts like a general. I would not feel as safe under Kerry.
COUNSELOR JENNINGS: I think Bush has proven once and for all that we cannot trust anything he says, and we must beware that he is able to change like a chameleon overnight depending on what he's been told to say by Carl Rove, the puppet-master. The polls may be even now, but they'll tilt toward Kerry around October.
REAGAN DEMOCRAT: I've got no problem with Bush changing his mind. Hell, now I can say I agree with him part of the time.
BOUNCER MIKE: Bush is a genius so let him change his mind as much as he wants. Anyone who thinks they know more about the presidency than the President himself ought to be looked at as having no credibility.
GOOFBALL GREG: I think Bush thinks we're gonna win the war on terror because he doesn't want to be a wartime president. I even heard him say that on television. Alls he's tryin' to do is win the friggin' war. No duh, huh? I thought people were born with this knowledge.
GURU DION: I'll tell ya, Bush is one hell of a liar. Man, the 9/11 report even paints the dude as suspicious. I'd say he doesn't have a plan to win the peace or the war and that's why he doesn't have a chance of even being re-selected. This one won't even be close. Kerry's already got Nevada, now he just needs Ohio.
